The Academic Board is the principal policy-making and advisory body on all matters relating to and affecting the School's teaching, research and educational programmes. It presides over strategic planning and management processes and thus upholds academic quality and integrity, determining the educational character and mission of the school.

 

To ensure that academic standards and fair practices set by the Academic Board are rigorously maintained, the Examination Board takes responsibility for the development, proper implementation and review of all examination and assessment procedures.

 

The Academic and Examination Board meets at regularly scheduled intervals or when necessary to discuss and implement any issues brought to its attention. It comprises the following members:

Dr. Barry Roantree is an Architect and has a Professional Doctorate in Environmental Design. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects. He also has formal tertiary qualifications in education. He has over 30 years of experience in education and training and as a consultant for architectural and interior design projects and business development as well as education and training. He specialises in residential, commercial and retail design, space planning, project management, furniture and interior architecture.

Dr Roantree has extensive senior educational leadership and management experience in both Vocational and Higher Education Sectors in Australia. He was appointed foundation Dean of Design at Canberra Institute of Technology in 1988 and held that position prior to his retirement from CIT in 2005. His reputation is firmly founded in the forefront of design education in Australian Vocation Education and Training. He initiated new fields of design study in areas of building design, interior design, graphic design, photography, fashion, computer-aided design and graphics, printing and graphic arts, multimedia and digital animation; successfully developing and introducing two new CIT Bachelor of Design qualifications.

Dr Roantree has brought vision, leadership, human resource development knowledge, and operational management skills to Inspiration Design International School. His enthusiasm, energy, and creative and innovative approaches have helped the School build its international profile. His extensive knowledge, understanding, and experience of educational issues includes education market research, strategic planning, quality assured education delivery. He is skilled at the design and implementation of outcomes based design curricula leading from technical skills based vocational programs to cognitive oriented professional degrees. He is experienced at establishing and maintaining national and international strategic associations, and assisting educational organisations manage human and physical resources to cost effectively meet their Design education and training imperatives.

Barry has worked with Mr. Tay Chok Leng since 1998 to develop the various course curricula and teaching capacity of the school. He has been a special academic advisor to Inspiration Design International School since 2005 and appointed Chair of the Academic and Examinations Board and a member of Inspiration's Audit and Business Development Board in 2011.

Mr. Tay is a graduate with a Bachelor of Interior Design (formally known as Bachelor of Applied Science in Environmental Design (Interior Design Specialisation) from the University of Canberra. He has worked on commercial and residential projects in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Shanghai and has over 20 years professional experience in the design industry. Since 2004, Mr. Tay has judged installations at the annual International Furniture Fair in Singapore, and is a regular public speaker at design seminars.

Mr. Tay believes that industry experience is crucial to a student's design education. He has established the school's close links with local and international design practitioners to provide students with work place experience that complements their study. As a result, Inspiration's students have success in competitions and graduates succeed in securing excellent career opportunities.

Mr Tay is a Studio Projects Director and teaches across all areas of the curriculum. He teaches scheduled classes, mentors beginning teachers, substitutes for teachers who may be ill, and quality assures all teaching practices in the School.


KELVIN CHUNG

Mr. Chung graduated from Monash University, Australia in 1995 with a double degree, Bachelor of Business (Accounting) and Bachelor of Computing (Information Systems). Mr. Chung commenced his professional career with one of the "Big Six" International Accounting firms where he specialized in the areas of financial reporting and external audit, internal audit, corporate finance, and during which time he achieved his Certified Practising Accountant status.

 

Mr. Chung is a Founder and Managing Director of TransFingo Private Limited, a leading provider of Business Process Risk Consulting and Business Process Outsourcing services to MNC customers in the Asia-Pacific region. Principal business activities of TransFingo comprise Enterprise Risk Management, Internal Audit Services, Business Process Consulting and Re-engineering, Electronic Records Management Services specializing in the management of patient medical records for hospitals, Accounting Outsourcing and HR/Payroll Outsourcing.

 

Since its founding in 2003, Mr. Chung has guided the firm to grow to a staff headcount of 200, with presence in Asian cities including Singapore, China (Suzhou, Jiangsu province and Hong Kong SAR), Philippines (Makati City, Manila), Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), Thailand (Bangkok) and Vietnam (Ho Chi Min City).

ANNE ROANTREE

Board's Special Advisor for Human Relations and Administrative Services

 

Anne Roantree is an educator with a Master of Education and over 30 years of experience in the field of education. She has extensive management experience as a senior educational leader and project manager.

Anne specialises in organisational capacity building through curriculum development and implementation. Her position before retiring was Principal of the government Preschool Sector in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). This sector comprised of 200 staff across 80 sites. Anne implemented a range of policies to manage professional and support staff deployment across the sector, and chaired the Probation Panel of each newly appointed teacher. She implemented quality improvement processes for both professional and support staff, including planning regular professional development (PD).

She regularly contributed to system development of the tri-annual Strategic Plan and managed implementation across the preschool sector. She managed reviews of the Registration and Enrolment Policy and consequently developed and implemented the Preschool Registration Advertising Policy.

As Project Manager, Anne developed specialised early childhood curricula, including the Early Childhood Literacy Project, and the curriculum framework "Contours of Learning" for use in all early childhood settings in the ACT.

Since retirement Anne has developed a curriculum for a new group of early childhood settings in the ACT, with follow up staff PD. Anne managed the sector quarterly reporting to government, including analysing the annual Parent Satisfaction Survey.

Anne joined Inspiration Design International School in 2011 as a Special Advisor to enhance the teaching and learning capacity of the school. She is also an Academic and Examination Board Member to assist in the ongoing improvement of educational practice.

HO AI LING

Ms Ho is a qualified architect who has managed a variety of residential, commercial, instituitional and landscape projects ranging up to over $51million in value. She has also been involved in the project team of high-end luxurious residential-resort developments overseas as well as a government hospital in Singapore.

 

She graduated with a Bachelors and Masters in Architecture from the National University of Singapore and has been registered with the Board of Architects since 2008.

 

Ms Ho also has a keen interest in the field of Environmental Design , and is currently pursuing a Masters in Sustainable Building Design with the University of Nottingham in collaboration with the Singapore BCA Academy.

WILLIAM POH TIAN HOCK

Mr. Poh graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Laws with Honours in 1991 and was admitted to the Supreme Court of the Republic of Singapore as an Advocate & Solicitor in 1992.

 

Mr. Poh commenced partnership of William Poh & Partners on 1 April 1995 after chambering with a few law firms. He further expanded his law firm with additional partners, and renamed it as William Poh & Louis Lim on 1 April 2001.

 

Mr. Poh practises in the areas of conveyancing and corporate matters in which he has advised a Singapore-Taiwan alliance on the acquisition of factories in Lishui County, Nanjing, Jiangsu Province for the purposes of a long-term lease to a German multi-national company based in Singapore. He has also provided legal advice for other joint ventures Singapore and Vietnam.

STEPHEN CHEW

Mr. Stephen Chew is the Managing Consultant of Kingsbridge Consultancy. Stephen has many years of experience in the education sector being involved as a teacher to heading a department of a local secondary school and finally leading a school as Vice-Principal (Academic) before joining the private sector.

 

He was also the head of the Organisation Excellence Unit in MOE HQ where he spearheaded the Balanced Scorecard Initiative for MOE HQ and schools. During his stint in MOE HQ, he was involved in a variety of Organisation Development projects such as MOE Singapore Quality Award team, MOE Customer Relationship Management team, MOE Organisation Excellence secretariat and MOE EXCEL Organising Committee.

 

Through his varied school portfolios namely Subject Head (Student Leadership and CIP), Head of Department (Mathematics), Head of Department (Organisation Development) and Vice-Principal (Academic), Stephen has acquired extensive knowledge of school and education. At the school level, Stephen has led numerous projects such as ISO 9001, People Developer Standard, MOE Character Development Award and Balanced Scorecard Review. He has also served on MOE School Excellence Model external validation team.

Tham Heng Mun has had 36 years of working experience with the Port of Singapore Corporation (PSA) and as Director (corporate services) and Deputy Director (Port Division) at the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). The Student Administration Department serves the School's mission and student affairs policies by providing student protection and support services.

 

These services include pre-course counselling and enrolment advice for prospective students, management of student fees, insurance and contract procedures, as well as assistance in immigration, medical and accommodation matters. The Department also maintains and reviews records for class attendance and examination results to ensure that students satisfy the stipulated requirements for course completion.

Ms. Wang has had more than 5 years of experience in Inspiration Design International School teaching the use of Computer Aided Design software. She also shares with her students valuable ongoing industry experience as a designer of In Design Haus. She received her Advanced Diploma in Interior Design from the Canberra Institute of Technology and later graduated with a Bachelor in Interior Design from the University of Canberra.

Mr. Tan graduated with a Master of Science in International Marketing from the University of Strathclyde in 2000 and is equipped with more than 25 years of experience in the design industry, including work in trade exhibition, building signage and commercial design. Design projects he has handled include those for Takashimaya S. Pte. Ltd., Resort World Singapore, Cellini Design Centre, Pico Art International and Kenwood. He has also managed sales negotiation and marketing as well as business development.


Serving as an associate at Teckoglass Design Pte. Ltd, his specialization in art-glass design has proven to be an asset for Inspiration Design International School and its students. He has lectured for Raffles Lasalle Int'l Design School at both diploma and degree levels.


At Inspiration Design International School, he is a part-time Studio Manager for the Advanced Diploma/ Diploma/ Certificate programmes for which he is registered to teach the following subjects:

ELSIE G. SESE

Studio Manager

Ms. Sese has more than 15 years of experience as an Interior Design project manager. She has been responsible for the design, documentation and administration of the interior design fit for various hospitality, resorts and large-scale development projects including the National Cancer Centre, Sun Plaza Condominium, Grandlink Square Condominium, Grand Park Hotel as well as Medufushi Island Resort and Filitheyo Island Resort (Maldives). She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from the University of Santo Tomas.

She is currently a part-time Studio Manger for the Advanced Diploma/Diploma/ Certificate programmes, for which she is registered to teach the following subjects:
